Joseph Portrait

Painted from a photograph, this portrait took just one evening to complete. Initially sketched straight onto canvas by pencil and then acrylic paints applied to provide a faster drying time for a number of initial paint washes. Further layers were added to build up the image. The pastel and paper image that was held up by the subject was Joseph’s own self portrait which he drew at school. If you look carefully, you can see remnants of the pink pastel on Joseph’s fingers where the colour has rubbed off from the original drawing.
